A Visual Exloration in Art and Design

This project will involve a visual exploration in the differences and similarities between art and design. It involves the researching of the two fields, and settling on the definition I am going to assume for ‘Art’ and ‘Design’ for the duration of the project. I will then undertake a series of challenges; completing each challenge as a) an ‘artist’, and b) a ‘designer’. The information I discover throughout my research is what I will use to get into the mindset of the two personalities (artist and designer), and hence, attempt to produce a solution to each challenge.

As mentioned previously, this project will comprise of a series of these challenges, with each challenge either being closer to ‘art’, ‘design’ or somewhere in between. This will enable me to fully experiment on what makes a piece of work ‘art’ as opposed to ‘design’, or what make aspects make them interchangeable.

The ultimate purpose of this project is to personally explore the concepts of art and design and display my findings in a creative manner.
