Hello! I’m Alesha from Pukekohe, New Zealand. My design journey began in high school, followed by a year at Whitecliffe, where I studied graphic design and fine art. I then moved to Yoobee Colleges, where I completed two diplomas in animation over two years. Now, I’m continuing my studies at Waikato University.
My interests and hobbies include, but are not limited to, video games, drawing, vintage tech, languages, sewing, and collecting. Animation has always captivated me, and during my time at Waikato University, I’ve had numerous opportunities to refine my motion graphics skills. My favourite typeface is OCR-A Extended, and out of all the Adobe programs I particularly like After Effects, I’m never bored working with it because when something inevitably goes wrong, I get to dive into finding creative, sometimes overly complicated, solutions.
VOXI, or VOXI Languages, is a television channel whose goal is to expose English-speaking viewers to other languages. By doing this, it hopes to inspire people to actively learn a new language that they might not have previously considered.
VOXI primarily broadcasts music videos from around the world. The lyrics of songs don’t necessarily need to be understood for the music to be enjoyable or catchy, and for those who want to test their language knowledge or pick up some trivia, VOXI has regularly scheduled quizzes in many languages. There are even some secret messages in Morse code! I decided to create VOXI as a potential replacement for advertisement screens in places like waiting rooms, bars, or nail salons. Learning a new language is good for the brain and helps foster better communication with those around us. Most English speakers don’t know a second language, but maybe VOXI can teach you how to say "hello."
