Student Bio
My passion for design stemmed from my high school teacher who believed design is in everything and design is everything. Studying at the University of Waikato has taught me so much about myself, the way I design and how design has influenced the world. Over the 3 years I have studied here, I've been able to strengthen and get more insight on the areas of design that I am passionate about which is print design. My second major, psychology, also strengthens the way I view design and teaches us how people interact with it.
Project Description
I called the project Equilibrium because it simply means balanced and with each animal that dies and with each species that goes extinct, the world is thrown into fluctuation. Forever trying to reach equilibrium.
I took on this project because I wanted to bring awareness to the impact our choices and actions, as humans, have on this world and how they influence the extinction of animals. I decided one of the most effective way to bring this across is through a deck of cards. Not only does it show a volume of animals that went extinct, but it also shows that each and every one of them is extinct due to human activity.
