Student Bio
Kia Ora, I'm Shaeana Jaunay! I will soon be graduating with a Bachelor of Design, majoring in Communication Design and Media Design. I have always had a flare for the arts and all things creative. However, my design experience and passion only began in high school. Attending the University of Waikato has provided a well-rounded degree that enabled me to explore various areas of design and identify my passions.

What I have come to learn, is that there is more to a design than some graphics and typography. Behind every great design, there is a great designer who has thought about every detail of the work and how the audience will view and interact with the design. The University of Waikato Design degree has taught me so much about myself and provided me with the knowledge and skills needed for the real world. I have discovered an enjoyment for many areas of design that I wouldn't have tried if I had not studied at Waikato, from creating short films to user interface and designing various types of graphics. Thanks to the University of Waikato, I have really found my passion!
Project Description
My project "Little Honey Bee" is a children's book with a complementing board game for young children to enjoy. The book is paired with a song that can be played along as you read the story, to encourage interactivity and singing. The board game relates to the buzzy bee story and is an amalgamation of aspects of some of my favorite games as a child. Reading and playing games that don't involve electronic devices is an essential experience that a lot of children these days don't encounter. Through this project, I wanted to give kids a taste of my childhood and provide them with essential experiences. I believe that this project could be useful for kids, parents, and teachers and would be a great learning tool in schools or at home, encouraging reading, singing, and playing. I've been singing since I was two and I know I would've loved something like this when I was a kid.
It has been a dream of mine to create and print a completed children's book and I have finally done it!
