Student Bio

Hi there! My name is Keon Rodrigues, and I will be graduating with a Bachelor of Design majoring in Interface Design and minoring in Marketing. Since I was young, I have been interested in computers and technology! In high school, I learned how to use Adobe suite products and how to code in basic languages, which I took a liking to.

I'm passionate about UX/UI and improving products to be more engaging for users depending on their set of behaviours and intentions. I found UX fascinating and it's the direction I want to go as a graduate. I learned important design skills from the lecturers and tutors at Waikato, which revealed my likes and dislikes about design and gradually built up my skills with different software and design practices. In the future, I hope that I can find a job where I can utilize my skills and create exciting and engaging experiences for companies.

Project Description

Stocks and investing are important for building wealth and protecting yourself and loved ones for the future. So it's concerning that 27% of New Zealanders aged 18 - 29 have exclusive Kiwisaver investment and 12% are not investors at all. Even though 18 - 29 years make up 19% of the population and are growing by the day, it's important for the youngest generations of workers to learn the basics of investing, which is where Bluchip comes in.

Bluchip's aim is to make learning about investing fun, informative, and effective. It does this with engaging learning activities, which are tailored to specific users, giving rundowns on the basics of investing, practices, and how-to's. From this, you gain points(money) to use in the simulated stock market area of the app, to test what you've learned and test your skills. The app keeps you hooked with its daily streak feature and the user wants to get their portfolio higher on the leaderboards. With the research on the subject done, I've found this to be an effective strategy in achieving the need for this app.
