For my Capstone Project I have created a travel app that can assist travellers while they are on holiday. Travelling is something that almost everyone loves to do, but it can be hard to keep track of your plans and bookings when on the go. Travel Bug is intended to take the stress out of planning your holiday and be a multi-purpose app that anyone can use, and I think it is important for people to have a platform that can make all of the planning a lot easier for them. Travel Bug is able to keep track of your plans and activities while also suggesting new places that you might love based on previous places you have been. Travel Bug includes many features, such as in app navigation, translation, an editable travel itinerary and insider tips. While using Travel Bug you can save your favourite countries, cities and even hotels and activities so if you can easily re-book a trip with the places you loved.
Project Description
Kia Ora, I’m Caitlyn Ashcroft. I am from and currently live in Mount Maunganui, Tauranga. I have always known that I wanted to be in the creative field as I was always more drawn to the art subjects in school and I knew that I wanted that for my career as well. My design journey started in year 12 of high school when I took my first design class. I knew nothing about design then and only took the class to fill the space in my timetable. When taking that class it became clear that this was what I wanted to do as I had never had so much fun creating like this before. I then continued my design journey down in Wellington at Victoria University. I studied a Bachelor of Design Innovation there but only made it through the first year before transferring to the University of Waikato to pursue a degree in Communication Design instead. Through studying at both Victoria and Waikato University, I have learnt a lot about myself as a designer and have learnt many skills that will benefit me in the long run.
