Bachelor of Design Double major in Interface and Communication Design
Student Bio
Hi there, I'm Alisha Cole. I am a designer, digital illustrator and occasional photographer. I love to create, design and work with people to achieve their goals, so pursuing a degree in both Interface and Communication design just made sense to me. Pairing these two together has allowed me to learn about how to design for a client's needs and how to get this information across to them.
My experience with design studies has been very interesting, to say the least. I started in 2020 during the first covid lockdown in semester A, so navigating my studies was quite challenging from home. Studying at Waikato University has given me the tools and knowledge to become a designer, I was also able to challenge myself in different areas of design. My expertise is in designing websites, apps and digital illustrating.
Project Description
Do you feel stressed, anxious, or want balance in your life?
Be. is a wellness tracking app that helps women track their daily emotions and menstrual cycle. Be also provides Breathing Exercises, an Affirmations page, and a Journaling page to record feelings and thoughts. The purpose of Be is to help reduce stress and to be present in the moment, as stress is one of the leading causes of mental health. By bringing introducing a space where you can track your daily emotions can help recognise where you may need peace and calm in your lifestyle.
I have chosen to create a wellness app because I am currently using two tracking apps; one for daily mood tracking and the other for tracking my menstrual cycle. I find this tedious to say the least, going back and forth between the two isn’t ideal. I wanted to create an app that enables women to track everything in one place as well as provide calming exercises to encourage the user to take advantage of these and will benefit from this being a part of the app.
