BIOGRAPHY

Hi there! My name is Sophie Hills and I am soon to graduate with a Bachelor of Design double major in Communication Design and Marketing.

I have a particular interest in communication and print design, where I tend to focus on corporate advertising and marketing design. I am enthusiastic about design and always put 100% into every project. Throughout my time at Waikato I have been able to extend my skills in communication design as well as picking up new skills in a few key areas. UX design is another passion of mine, where I have developed my prototyping and user experience design skills over the course of the degree. I have been fortunate enough to be able to grow as a designer over the past three years and look forward to my future in this creative field.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Kind Project is a Certification initiative for New Zealand’s sustainable businesses, who are reducing their carbon footprint and working towards New Zealand's emission reduction targets. New Zealand consumers are often unaware of unsustainable practices to attain products on our shelves, which is in part due to lack of information surrounding individual business practices. The purpose of this project is to create greater transparency between the product/service provider and the end consumer. This is so that consumers can make more sustainably conscious purchasing decisions. Similar to the Fair-Trade Act, the sustainability program ensures businesses are fulfilling their duty in New Zealand’s goal of emission reduction targets.

The main stakeholders in this target audience are New Zealand’s commercial businesses selling physical products. The identities of this group include the sustainably conscious, who have a similar target audience that are also sustainably driven and are aiming to reduce the environmental impact they have.

I developed this brand Identity to be recognisable, so that it would stand out amongst brand packaging. To support this, I developed a series of marketing collateral including a poster series, large format designs and a website. I created a series of brand elements, which I utilised across these collateral platforms.
