BIOGRAPHY

Hi, my name is Sophie. I will graduate from the University of Waikato with a Bachelor of Design majoring in Communication Design.

I have always been interested in design and Waikato University has helped me turn these interests into skills that will help me throughout my life and career. I am most interested in branding and print design, but I also enjoy creating animations and 3D computer graphics.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Bees are the world’s most important pollinators of our vegetables, fruit, flowers, and crops. Without Bees in New Zealand our plant life wouldn’t be so beautiful and we would lose up to one third of our food production. Honey bees, Bumble bees, and our native New Zealand bees are all crucial to our country.

Buzzy aims to educate young New Zealanders on the importance of our New Zealand bees, and to show them how they can help make a difference in their own gardens. Bees are not just good for creating honey, they are crucial in the pollination of most of our native and non native plants in New Zealand.

For this project I have created packaging designs for a “bee kit” which includes seedling boxes, bookmarks, an informative booklet, and a pen and paper pad. Along with this I have created educational posters and a website which displays these items and more information on how you can help.
