BIOGRAPHY

Hello, I am Luke Jordan and I will soon graduate with a Bachelor of Design majoring in Interface Design and Computer Science. I have a strong passion for all things design, and in particular I have a love for UX/ UI Design.

During the course of my academic career at the University of Waikato, I have learned many new skills and worked on interesting and impactful projects, these have involved branding, print design, and app UX/UI design. I have learnt coding and backend knowledge through my Computer Science major, this allows me to apply both a design and developer perspective to my work. I am very excited for the opportunities my degree has to offer and am excited to get started in the industry.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Every year, New Zealanders send around 2.5 million tonnes of waste to landfills; the majority of this waste could be recycled. Additionally, we waste an estimated $872 million worth of food a year. I have a passion to create a project that addresses the unnecessary disposal of used items. My goal is to prevent unnecessary wastage and create more sustainable communities within New Zealand.

Giver is a free application where users can donate their unwanted goods to people within their community, reducing unnecessary waste. Giver allows the user to explore their neighbor's listings on an interactive map, list their own unwanted items hassle-free, and get clear directions to these items. Help people, help the environment and reduce waste in New Zealand.
