Biography

I’m a third-year student at The University of Waikato, and I’m majoring in Computer Graphics Design. Personally, I really enjoy hand drawn illustrations, and I’ve been studying and practicing it for 10 years. I believe that hand drawn illustrations can make designs more unique and distinctive. A good utilization of hand drawn illustrations and digitally drawn illustrations will generate the most effective designs.

In addition, I am also interested in 2D animations and branding. I’ve had experience with branding and commercial designs. I believe a good design is not only a creation, but also a reflection of our lives. Although designs cannot directly make people’s lives better, but it can help spark the thought process of what people can do to make life better.

Project Description

S-M(social-media) Man’s life is a 3-minute 2D animation. I created this virtual character to imply the phenomenon and the effects of social-media addiction. The purpose of this project is to show people how social media is taking up much more of our time than we think. The message of the animation is to remind people to turn off their phones and appreciate the world around us.

The whole project was drawn by hand with an iPad Pro and an iPencil. It took a lot of time to draw each frame, but It was a special experience for me to create animations in a new way. This is a good example of how the most effective design are generated from a good utilization of hand drawn illustrations and digitally drawn illustrations.
