Biography

Hi, I’m Mirya Chan. An interface design and computer science major who is very excited to be graduating in December. I have experience in website and UX/UI design but also enjoy branding and illustrative work.

The power of design is sometimes seems underrated. I believe the communication channel to people that design creates has the power to change perspectives in the world.

That is why, as a designer, one of the most rewarding things to me is having an idea and bringing them to life through design: seeing your designs on a physical product, or through a screen.

As a 20 year old human being though, I love to explore: whether it be going for scenic walks in nature or trying out new food in a bustling city.

Project Description

wearbetterclothes is an informational and functional website made to combat fast fashion. As daily consumers of the clothing industry, it is important to know the severity of environmental issues fast fashion causes on our planet. My goal is to inform people about it and also give thrift stores an online presence, helping to make thrift shopping a common practise.

The interactive landing page tells a story as you scroll, where the user can visualise the implications of fast fashion. The functional aspect allows users to make their first steps to combating fast fashion by finding thrift stores near them to check out, seeing reviews from fellow thrift shoppers and saving your favourite thrift stores to receive notifications for new donations.
