Biography

I’m Arabella and I’m about to graduate with a Bachelor of Design, double majoring in Interface design and Communication design. UX and UI design are my main passions because the way people interact with their screens is ever changing and I find it exciting trying to figure out the best ways to allow people to interact with their screen and giving them the most enjoyable experience using their device possible as technology develops. Although UX/UI are where my main interests lie, I also enjoy and have experience with branding and have enjoyed having the opportunity to explore this area throughout my degree.

Project Description

Sustainability in the modern world has become a major concern in recent years, however, one area that is still overlooked is the sustainability of fashion. Textiles account for 4% of all waste sent to New Zealand landfills according to Ministry for the Environment figures, this equates to over 348,000,000 kilograms of waste. Whilst all ages are notorious for conforming into unsustainable fashion, children are one of the major contributors, as they are constantly growing and require a constant flow of new clothes to keep up with that growth. Swapster is a mobile app aimed at decreasing the amount of new clothing bought by parents, which is only worn for a very limited amount of time, by allowing users to swap old clothing for new clothes that fit their child for free.
